Commercial Operations Underway at Orangeville Wind Farm in New York

LCG, April 4, 2014 - Invenergy Wind LLC ("Invenergy") announced on March 28 that commercial operations of its 94-MW Orangeville Wind Farm in Wyoming County, New York have commenced. The project is located about forty miles southeast of Buffalo in Wyoming County, New York.

The Orangeville Wind Farm includes 58 GE 1.6-100 wind turbines and is sited near Invenergy's 112.5-MW Sheldon Wind Farm, which began full commercial operations back in 2009.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority ("NYSERDA") awarded a contract through a competitive bid process to Orangeville Wind to produce and deliver renewable electricity to New York. The funding was made available through New York's Renewable Portfolio Standard ("RPS"), which was created to increase renewable electricity delivered to consumers. NYSERDA has committed to purchase the renewable energy credits (RECs) associated with the electricity generated by wind farm for ten years. The electricity produced will be sold into the wholesale markets managed by the New York Independent System Operator ("NYISO").

Commercial operations at the Orangeville Wind Farm were delayed back in November 2013 when a blade snapped off of one of the wind turbines at the site. Following a root cause analysis (RCA), GE identified a "spar cap manufacturing anomaly" as the cause of the malfunction. No injuries were reported.
