LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

K2 Wind Power Project Achieves Commercial Operation in Ontario
LCG, June 10, 2015, 2015-The K2 Wind Power Facility ("K2 Wind") in southwestern Ontario achieved commercial operation on May 29, 2015. The generating capacity of K2 Wind is equal to the largest wind power facility in Ontario.
K2 Wind is owned and operated by Capital Power Corporation and Capital Power LP (collectively, "Capital Power"), Samsung Renewable Energy Inc., and Pattern Energy Group LP (collectively referred to as "the partners"). Pattern Energy Group Inc. ("Pattern Energy") has agreed to acquire one third of the project from its affiliate Pattern Energy Group LP.
The new wind farm operates under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).
K2 Wind includes 140 Siemens 2.3 MW wind turbines and is located in in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh. The facility was constructed over an 18 month period.
Components for the new facility were manufactured in Ontario. The project's 700 turbine tower sections were produced in Windsor by CS Wind, and the 420 blades were built in Tillsonburg by Siemens directly supporting over 800 manufacturing jobs in Ontario.
"Along with Samsung and Capital Power, we are proud to develop one of the largest wind facilities in Canada, which was built using local workers and local materials, including turbine blades and towers manufactured in Ontario," said the CEO of Pattern Energy. "K2 Wind is the result of Ontario's commitment to green energy, providing the province with a strong new addition to its renewable energy fleet."
