Consumers Energy to Purchase Power from 100-MW Apple Blossom Wind Farm in Michigan

LCG, September 18, 2015--Geronimo Energy, LLC (Geronimo) yesterday announced that it has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) to sell the electricity produced by the planned 100-MW Apple Blossom Wind Farm to Consumers Energy (Consumers). The agreement provides Consumers a future option to purchase Apple Blossom. Construction is expected to commence on the wind project in the spring of 2016.

Once Apple Blossom begins commercial operations and delivers power to the grid, Consumers will exceed Michigan's renewable energy portfolio mandate for utilities, as Consumers has already reached its 2015 target of acquiring 10% of its electricity from renewable sources.

Consumers Energy's Vice President for Energy Supply Operations stated, "Our company has a long history of making investments in wind, solar and other renewable energy sources on our own when they make sense for the Michigan residents we serve. Our agreement with Geronimo Energy shows that Consumers Energy is working toward a Michigan-first energy solution powered by renewable resources right here in our state."

The Apple Blossom Wind Farm site is located near Lake Huron in Huron County, Michigan, and its footprint spans McKinley and Winsor Townships.
