ERCOT 2017 Summer Quarter Outlook
LCG, July 13, 2017-- Earlier this year LCG Consulting published two quarterly reports, January – March, 2017 and March – May 2017, looking at how the ERCOT grid can cope with strained network conditions. LCG just released a new report that covers the analysis for the 2017 summer season (June through September). Extreme loading is a key factor in considering resource adequacy for the region during summer season.
This summer quarter report examines Base Case, High Generation Outage Case, High Load Case and Low Wind Case. It discusses how prices vary between the considered sensitivity scenarios, and what kind of congestion stakeholders can expect and where it can be expected.
LCG performed this study using 5-minute dispatch and its proprietary UPLAN Network Power Model. LCG has been modeling energy systems for more than 30 years and continuously sustains the most up-to-date information on every detail of the Texas grid, from minor and major transmission upgrades to gas prices and weather patterns.
