Advance Power's New Combined-Cycle Plant Reaches Commercial Operations in Ohio

LCG, January 12, 2018--A subsidiary of Swiss-based Advanced Power AG announced Wednesday that commercial operations have begun at the 700-MW Carroll County Energy plant in eastern Ohio, where it delivers electricity into the PJM Interconnection. The groundbreaking of the new natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant, located about 60 miles south of Youngstown, occurred in July 2015.

Advanced Power announced the project, the Carroll County Energy plant, in 2013 and secured $899 million in project financing. The plant is owned by a consortium that includes Advanced Power, TIAA-CREF, Chubu Electric Power Co., Ullico and Prudential.

The strategically located project is proximate to the Utica and Marcellus natural gas production, together with Kinder Morgan's Tennessee Gas Pipeline system and AEP's 345 kV transmission lines.

The new facility includes two GE 7F.05 gas turbines and one D650 steam turbine. Bechtel built the project under a turnkey construction contract. Ethos Energy is operating the facility, which employs 22 people. Advanced Power continues to manage the business.
